David Ivy
Frustrated with the lack of vision shown by the agencies I had worked for, I decided to start my own web design and development company in 1999 called Ellipsis Media. This grew successfully year-on-year, servicing such clients as the BBC, BT, WaterAid, Fairtrade, Curzon Cinemas, WaterAid and many others.
Then in 2005 after many years of enjoyment running a successful web design and digital marketing agency, I devised a new hyper growth strategy to take the company forward, changing its emphasis into that of a SaaS product company. This resulted in the most scalable product – dotMailer – being heavily developed, with a product interface and branding originally designed and created by myself. With the help of my two partners and friends Tink Taylor and Simon Bird, I then implemented the key steps of change that would transform the company. I also found a CEO who could take over the reins from myself and my partners and in January 2009, the company became an AIM-listed PLC called the dotDigital Group, (see LON: DOTD for more info).
After a successful exit, I now offer consultancy services through Drive Digital.
CLIENTS INCLUDE: HMV Curzon, eBay, Fairtrade, BBC, BT, The Bank of England, WaterAid, Stonewall, Monocle, Sevenoaks District Council, Somerset House, Cancer Research UK, HQ Hair.
I was also a trustee of the Prisoners Of Conscience charity for eight years between 2010 - 2018.
